New · Company formation

Start a company in Japan, stop by stop.

For founders forming a company in Japan — to run a business, or to hold property. You give the details once, in your own language; your firm takes it from there.

Then the visa to run it

経営・管理

  • Capital of at least ¥30,000,000 — the rule since October 2025.
  • Business premises that are not a home.
  • One full-time employee who is a Japanese national, permanent resident, spouse or long-term resident.
  • JLPT N2 or equivalent, held by you or a full-time employee.
How company formation works →
  1. Company details and members confirmed
  2. Articles of incorporation signed (定款)
  3. Capital paid in
  4. Company registered (設立登記)
  5. Foreign investment report (外為法)
  6. Company bank account opened

Travel on your own, or with a firm.

Switch at any stop — the case moves with you, nothing starts over.

On your own — free

  • Scan your passport — the details fill themselves in
  • A document list for your exact status and nationality
  • Track your application in your own language
Start an application

With a firm

  • Choose a firm from the directory, at any point
  • They check, draft and file — you upload through the same portal
  • Messages stay on the case, not in an inbox
Find a firm

Your documents stay yours.

A passport scan is not something to pass around by email. What you upload is stored against your case, and only you and the firm you choose can open it.

  • Only you, and a firm you have asked, can open the case
  • Document links expire an hour after they are issued
  • Sign in with a one-time link by email — no password to remember
  • Nothing is shared with a firm until you send a request

Common questions

Do I need a lawyer or a scrivener to use this?

No. You can run your application from start to finish yourself. Bringing in a firm is there for when the case gets complicated, or when you would rather someone else handled it.

Does it cost anything?

Starting an application, keeping your documents and tracking progress are free. Drafting reason statements and forms is part of a paid plan, or available through the firm you hire.

A firm has already opened my case.

Then you have a portal link in your email. Sign in with the address the firm used and the case will be there — there is nothing to set up again.

Which visas are covered?

Japanese statuses of residence — work, business, family, permanent residence and more — and the US E-1 and E-2 treaty visas.

Is Ninka a law firm?

No. Ninka is software for managing an application, and does not give legal advice. For advice on your case, ask a firm listed in the directory.
